As Ghana navigates a period of significant legislative and economic transition, Joy Prime's 'Prime Insight' is set to host a high-level panel discussion on Saturday, 7th February 2026.
The broadcast, hosted by Blessed Sogah, will air from 7:00 am to 9:00 am on Joy Prime TV, focusing on two of the most discussed topics currently dominating the national conversation: the proposed renaming of the international airport and the latest inflation figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service.
The KIA renaming: a debate on cost versus national relevance
The first segment of the programme will delve into the Accra International Airport Bill, which seeks to rename the current Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The panel is expected to examine the fiscal implications of such a rebranding exercise against its perceived relevance to national identity.
Critics have questioned the expenditure required for changing signage, international aviation codes, and branding materials during a period of economic recovery.
Conversely, proponents argue that the name change is a necessary step in aligning Ghana’s primary gateway with its geographic location and moving away from a name associated with the 1966 coup d'état.
Macroeconomics and the "Kenkey Politics" of inflation
Following the news that January's inflation rate has dropped to 3.8%, the programme will tackle the political and social interpretation of these figures.
Despite the technical decrease in inflation, a phenomenon dubbed "Kenkey Politics" has emerged, where citizens compare macroeconomic data to the actual cost of living and staple food items on the market.
The panel will likely debate whether the downward trend in inflation is being felt by the average consumer or if there remains a significant gap between official statistics and the price of goods in local markets.

To provide a balanced perspective, the show will feature a diverse array of guests from across the political and social spectrum:
- Rosemond Obeng, a Presidential Aide.
- Awal Mohammed, a member of the NPP Communications Team.
- Solomon Owusu, Director of Communications for the United Party.
- Ivan Kyei Innocent, a Youth Activist.
Prime Insight airs every Saturday from 7:00 am to 9:00 am on Joy Prime (DStv 281, GOtv 124, and Free-to-Air channel 102), with live engagement on @JoyPrimeTV across social media.
