The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that an electrical fault at its Smelter II substation in Tema caused a power outage in some parts of the city late Monday night.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, GRIDCo said that the fault that occurred at about 10:58 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, affected electricity supply to some customers within the Tema area.
According to the company, its engineers are currently working to identify the cause of the disturbance while efforts are underway to restore power supply to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
“Our engineers are currently diagnosing the cause of the disturbance and working diligently to restore power supply to the affected areas as quickly as possible,” the statement said.
GRIDCo apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that every effort is being made to resolve the issue promptly and restore stable electricity supply.
