Former Interior Minister and former Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey has denied claims that he personally benefited from government land allocations during his tenure.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, on March 12, Mr Quartey addressed concerns about land allocation and clarified his position amid ongoing discussions on security recruitment and public lands.
“I didn’t take any government land during my time as Interior Minister. All the lands I allocated were for public use and meant to benefit the general public, not for my personal benefit,” he stated.
Mr Quartey highlighted that during his tenure, he allocated approximately 15 acres of land at Agbogbloshie to facilitate the construction of a hospital under the government’s Agenda 111 initiative.
“The land was specifically intended to serve the public through improved healthcare infrastructure,” he added.
He further revealed that after leaving office, he was evicted from the property where he had been residing, and the structure was demolished just a few days later.
Mr Quartey emphasised that all his decisions regarding land allocation were made with public interest in mind and reiterated that he did not take any government land for personal use.
