President John Dramani Mahama has announced a major infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming Ghana's sporting landscape by constructing six modern stadiums over the next two years.
Speaking during his ‘Resetting Ghana Tour’ in the Bono Region on Thursday, the President confirmed that his administration is prepared to build three new stadiums in 2026, followed by an additional three in 2027.
This ambitious project is part of a broader national strategy to ensure that every region in the country is equipped with a fit-for-purpose sporting facility, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Ghanaian football and providing world-class training grounds for local athletes.
The President revealed that the first three stadiums are currently in the design phase.
“We will build three new stadiums in 2026 and three more in 2027. We are currently in the design phase for the first three,” Mahama said.
This announcement follows earlier commitments made by the Mahama administration to prioritize sports as an engine for social and economic transformation.
