The Municipal Chief Executive for West Akyem in the Eastern Region, Paulina Akabilla, has begun distributing chicks to households under the government’s Nkoko Nkitinkiti Project to promote poultry farming and improve livelihoods.

The initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to boost food security and reduce poverty at the community level.

In the Akyem Owuram zone, more than 700 beneficiaries have received support under the programme, with each household allocated 20 birds. The exercise is being carried out with a focus on transparency and efficiency to ensure that the intended beneficiaries fully benefit from the intervention.

Addressing the media, Madam Akabilla explained that the project is designed to economically empower families while encouraging small-scale poultry production across the municipality.

She urged beneficiaries to put aside partisan considerations and support the initiative, stressing that it is aimed at improving household incomes and food security.

Meanwhile, some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government led by President John Dramani Mahama and the West Akyem Municipal Assembly for the support, pledging to make good use of the birds to improve their livelihoods.
