Two people died on the spot on Saturday night when a long bus with registration number GE 5108 Z crashed into a truck with registration number UE 1258 C between Anyinam and Enyiresi.
Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the truck, which was heading from Accra to Kumasi, skidded off the road after it was hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser and run into the bus killing the two including the bus driver’s mate. Several people in the bus also suffered injuries.Eyewitnesses said the Land Cruiser, which caused the accident, overtook about five vehicles in a row but was unsuccessful with the sixth one.
In an attempt to swerve the approaching bus, it hit the truck but failed to stop and sped off. No one could take down its registration number.
When the GNA reporter got to the accident scene at about 2020 hours, twenty minutes after the incident, the police had not arrived. Several calls to reach the police by the other passengers on the bus, who escaped unhurt, proved futile.
The injured persons including the bus driver, who were conveyed to Enyiresi hospital near Anyinam, were refused admission and they were brought back to the accident scene.Source: GNA/Ghana
