A security expert, Emmanuel Bombande, says the two feuding factions in Dagbon must lay bare their mutual fears and suspicions to ensure lasting peace in the area.
The Abudus and Andanis have been involved in a protracted chieftaincy violence which culminated in the death of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani in March 27, 2002.
There have been incessant calls for the perpetrators of that crime to be brought to justice and efforts at fostering unity between the two factions have been painstaking, with intermittent violent setbacks.
The two are scheduled to meet with the committee of eminent chiefs led by the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II in August to draw an effective implementation plan of the road map for peace in the area.
In an interview with Joy News, Mr. Bombande expressed fears that the lack of coercive powers for the eminent chiefs to implement the roadmap could derail the process.
The Andanis have expressed their intention to bury the late king in the Gbewa Palace, something the Abudus have vehemently objected to.
Mr. Bombande said there must be mutual guarantees that agreements brokered by the eminent chiefs for the two factions will be adhered to.
