Moslems across the country will begin this year’s Ramadan fasting from the 20th of this month.A 27-member committee set up by the National Chief Imam arrived at the date after two weeks of deliberations.Chairman of the committee, Sheik Musah Abdul Kadir, told delegates attending the 15th National Hilal Conference in Kumasi that the search for the moon should continue if it is not sighted on the 20th of this month.Muslims are however required to start the fasting by 22nd, two days after the expected date, even if the crescent the moon does not appear. He said a request has been made to government to extend the holiday period for the Id Ul Fitr festivities as a result of the difficulty in determining the exact date ending the Ramadan fasting.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
