Residents of Osullivan Estates, Coomunity 20, Tema whose homes were due to be pulled down Thursday morning have been given a reprieve.
Following the presentation of a stay of execution order, the bulldozers that had been moved in to demolish the 40 homes were pulled out.
Osullivan Estates, developers of the estates lost a court case in a dispute over the land on which the properties have been cited.
Having secured a favourable ruling, the plaintiffs in the case Thursday morning moved in to execute the judgement but pulled back just in time after the lawyers of Osullivan Estates produced a court order granting a stay of execution.
For now the residents can heave a sigh of relief while the parties settle the matter.
Each of the homes costs $55,000 and owners are anxious they may just lose their investments.
