Former Information Minister Steven Asamoah Boateng has been denied bail.
A Fast Track High Court denied the application for his bail late Friday.
This means that he will spend the weekend in the cells of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
Mr. Asamoah Boateng was arrested on Thursday after he voluntarily went to the BNI to present himself following media reports that he was wanted.
Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who accompanied Mr. Asamoah Boateng to the court are heading back to the BNI office near the 37 Military Hospital, our reporters say.
Mr Asamoah-Boateng is facing nine charges, including causing financial loss, filed against him by the state.
He has been charged, alongside six other persons including his wife Zuleika and former Deputy Information Minister Frank Agyekum.
The charges relate to a contract awarded Mr Asamaoh-Boateng’s sister-in-law for some renovation works at the Information Ministry.
