The Ghana Journalists Association Saturday night voted Mr. Kofi Akordor of the Daily Graphic as Journalist of the Year 2008 at a splendid ceremony that also saw Joy FM’s Super Morning Show adjudged the Best Morning Show (Radio) for 2008.
The 14th Awards ceremony, attended by Vice President John Dramani Mahama as Guest of Honour, was under the theme, Media – Promoting Dialogue, Mutual Understanding and National Unity and also marked the Diamond Jubilee (60th Anniversary) of the formation of the GJA.
In all 36 persons and media organizations were celebrated for achieving media excellence or contributing to the promotion of a vibrant Ghanaian media.
Kofi Akordor also won the Best Columnist of the Year, with ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas of the New Crusading Guide winning the Investigative Journalist of the Year. Loretta Vanderpuije and Peggy Ama Donkor, both of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation picked two awards each.
Loretta emerged Best in TV News Reporting and Disability Issues, while Peggy won Best in Features (TV) as well as Arts and Entertainment.
