All is set for the grand official launch of this year’s Insurance Awareness Month at the plush Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, in Accra on Monday September 28, 2009.
The launch will be preceded by a press soiree at the auditorium of National Insurance Commission (NIC) on Wednesday September 23 and an interdenominational thanksgiving church service at the same venue on Friday September 25.
The one-month long celebration is being organized by the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) to create awareness and give the citizenry a better understanding of insurance and promote a sound insurance education in Ghana.
The theme for this year’s Awareness Month is “Insurance: An Industry of Opportunity for National Development.”
According to the programme line-up for this year’s event, there will be Public Lectures on Insurance, Health Walk, Float, Fun Games and a Dinner Dance to help participants wind down.
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the President of Ghana, H. E. John Evans Atta Mills; Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwabena Dufuor; Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammed M. O. Obanikoro; Commissioner of Insurance; GIA President-Elect; and a host of chief executives of financial related institutions and insurance industry players.
