Fourteen goals were produced in the big derby weekend of the 2015 First Capital Plus Premier League
Leaders AshantiGold saw their lead cut to three points as they lost 1-0 through an 8th minute strike by Kwame Asuandzie Baffoe away to All Stars in Wa while Aduana Stars came through with the 3points from regional rivals Bechem United with a solitary goal by Richard Addae.
Aduana Stars now have 25 points at second position while West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) who pulled a surprise win over Inter Allies on Saturday stay at third position with a point behind.
In the Accra derby, city rivals Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak fought out a pulsating 0-0 draw on Sunday at the Accra Stadium. Hearts of Oak had chances but were largely repulsed by a defence well marshalled by ex-Ghana defender Dan Quaye, whilst Olympics themselves saw some chances wasted with Agbashie Doetse.
At the Len Clay Stadium, champions Asante Kotoko had to wake up from slumber to overturn an early lead by Bernard Ofori with successive goals from Jordan Opoku and Emmanuel Asante. The porcupine warriors looked to cruise to victory but Haminu Dramani struck late to deny them victory and ended the game at 2-2.
Bottom club B.A. United defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1 in Sunyani to move to five points adrift of safety. Mustapha Mohammed and Charles Oppong gave the hosts a 2-0 lead, before Stephen Baffour Asare scored a consolation goal for Berekum Chelsea at the death.
Hasaacas and Medeama SC also fought out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Essipong Stadium. Emmanuel Ankobeah struck twice for Hasaacas while Hans Kwofie and Nathaniel Asamoah did the scoring for the Mauve and Yellow. Asamoah’s goal stretches his lead atop the scorers’ chart to 10 goals - two more than his immediate challengers.
Heart of Lions were held to a 0-0 game by Liberty Professionals at the Kpando Park.
The FCPPL continues with match day 15 on Wednesday, April 29.
