Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah claims he was misquoted after reports in Italy said he will be willing to miss the Black Stars Nations Cup campaign in Angola.
The player who has emerged as a key member of the Ghana team after playing two blinders in qualifying matches returned from a four-month injury lay off last weekend for his club Udinese.
He was then quoted as saying if the Serie A outfit want him out of the Nations Cup then he would happily remain in Italy when Ghana go chasing a fifth title in Angola next year.
But the midfielder has now backtracked telling the BBC Network Africa program that definitely will be with Ghana at the Nations Cup in Angola and claiming he had been misquoted in the earlier reports.
The Nations Cup throws up a lot of club versus country issues for players but the big boys on the continent are still expected to turn up next year for the biennial showpiece event.
Asamoah had risked intense backlash in Ghana on the back of those comments but has now moved to deny them.
