Rains have driven persons and possessions out of homes in Accra as early morning showers persisted to devastating effect.

Areas in Teshie-Nungua, Kaneshie, Kasoa are battling floods after a downpour lasting at least six hours.

People deserted their homes to find shelter in stationary buses.

Others in Teshie-Nungua are stuck up on wardrobes as flood waters attempt to reach ceilings.

At the Kaneshie Market, one of Accra’s busiest markets, the floods nearly swept away buses.

The disaster confirms it is indeed June, Ghana’s rainy reason.

Poor planning, poor garbage disposal system, poor road construction and poor response to emergencies have once again been exposed.

Questions will need to be asked about the quality of construction of this bridge above after flooding made it a dangerous death trap.
