Several relatives and friends of people who died or were injured in the flood and fire disaster have been trooping to the 37 Military Hospital in search of their loved ones.

They have pitched camp at the hospital after searches at the Police, Ridge and the Korle Bu teaching Hospital yielded no results.

The flood and fire disaster is estimated to have claimed 200 lives.

Many of the victims were seeking shelter at the GOIL fuel station around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle when the fire accompanied by a blast occured.

Several passengers, drivers – both commercial and private, as well as fuel attendants were burnt to death in the tragic incident.

Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah was at the hospital and reports that relatives of the victims have queued up at the 37 Military Hospital morgue in a bid to identify their loved ones.

A relative to one of the deceased person who spoke to Afreh said his brother called to inform his wife that he was seeking shelter at the GOIL petrol station but before she  could enquire about his exact location, the call dropped.

Another said an office pick up vehicle that was conveying his sister and her three male colleagues home after work capsized in the floods.

Although the men escaped, his sister was unable to make it out of the vehicle, “I am completely numb” he added.

President John Mahama, Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé and the Ivorian Foreign Minister are currently touring some hospitals where bodies of the dead and injured were conveyed.

Government has also instituted a Ȼ50 million fund to cater for the victims.

GOIL has also set up a Ȼ60 million fund to support victims and their dependents.
