Eight people including two pregnant women perished Monday in an accident on the Atebubu-Mampong highway in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Two children were also among the dead.
The accident involving two Opel vehicles occurred when one burst its tyre and veered into another lane and crashed into the second car.
Policy say an Opel Astra coming from Odwira had a burst tyre, veered off its lane and crashed into the second vehicle, an Opel Vectra, that was traveling in the opposite direction to Mampong, causing the accident and deaths.
The road crash happened at a town called Jato Zongo.
Atebubu District Police commander Spt. Joseph Atsu Dzineku told Joy News four other injured persons are receiving treatment at the Atebubu Government Hospital.
The deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
