A US army major suspected of shooting colleagues at the Fort Hood military base in Texas last week will face 13 murder charges, US media report. Maj Nidal Malik Hasan was shot by police and remains in hospital. Maj Hasan, an army psychiatrist, was sent to the base in April. Reports said he was unhappy about the prospect of being deployed to Afghanistan. There have also been allegations that US authorities failed to spot other warning signals about Maj Hasan. US intelligence authorities have said they knew Maj Hasan had been in contact with a cleric sympathetic to al-Qaeda. Source: BBC
