The Ghana Tourist Board is to partner Ghana International Airlines (GIA) in the promotion of tourism in Ghana.
This was disclosed after a meeting between officials of the Ghana Tourist Board and the management of Ghana International Airlines recently.
The Ghana Tourist Board delegation included the new Executive Director of the Board, Mr. Julius Debrah; Ms. Abigail Tagoe, Head of Marketing and Mr. Ben Ohene Ayeh, Public Relations Manager.
According to The Ghana Tourist Board, no country can effectively promote its tourism potential without a national carrier flying the flag of the country. It is also a common industrial practice the world over that national carrier is likely to give concessionary fares so as to make travels to their countries very attractive.
More so, some tourists prefer to experience what they have read or heard about the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality right from the air and will as part of their discovery of Ghana fly into Ghana on Ghana International Airlines.
It is therefore the desire of the board to see Ghana International Airlines thrive to help promote tourism in Ghana.
On the part of Ghana International Airline, Madam Gifty Annan Myers, Chief Executive Officer, said the airline was very happy about the development and explained that contrary to public perception that the airline has collapsed, the airline is rather poised to keep the flag of Ghana high up in the sky.
There are major issues to be cleared, particularly the impasse between the shareholders of the airline, however she said with major stakeholders like the Ghana Tourist Board coming in as an ally, the airline and Ghana as a whole stands to benefit.
The Ghana Tourist Board, as part of its efforts will make various representations on behalf of the airline to the shareholders of the airline and also partner Ghana International Airlines on various promotional platforms.
