One person is reported dead at Ashaley-Botwe, a suburb of Accra, while another sustained serious injuries when a communication mast collapsed Wednesday morning.
The two are said to be engineers who were working on the mast.
The mast belongs to telecoms giant Globacom, who are yet to officially launch their network in the country.
A resident told Joy News the badly injured engineer has been rushed to the hospital.
He said shortly before 9am, he was in a room and heard a big bang.
"The light just went off. So we just rushed outside to observe what was going on. I realised a lot of people were trooping in one direction. On seeing that, I also went there out of curiosity.
“I realized a telecommunication mast just collapsed. I was told two guys were working on the mast and they all came down.
“One guy has been confirmed dead, he (his body) is around now, but has been covered with a cloth. The other guy has been rushed to the hospital.”
He expressed fears the situation of the injured person could be fatal.
