Sources at the Castle have revealed that an emergency meeting held last night between President Mills and some elders of the ruling NDC reached no conclusive outcome. The President called a meeting between the national executive committee, elders of the party, and other leading members, including Majority Leader Alban Bagbin. The meeting is believed to have been called to thrash out the concerns of President’s Mills’ critics.President Mills has been heavily criticised by members of his own party, a situation political pundits suggest is unhealthy to party unity.Former President Rawlings has been one of the President’s most consistent critics but, according our sources, was absent from the meeting.Another leading critic, Harry Sawyer, was also absent on grounds of ill-health.Joy News sources said there are indications of a possible reshuffle as a result of last night’s meeting. This is likely to lead to the replacement of the current Chief of Staff Henry Martey. The sources said Trade and Industry Minister Hannah Tetteh leads those under consideration to replace Mr Martey. There was however no word about Information Minister Zita Okaikoe whose performance has been attacked by some members of the ruling party.Speculation has been rife over the last few months about a major shake-up in the Mills-led administration. If this move by the Mills government takes place it would only confirm these speculations.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
