Ghana is known to be a very religious country and a night like New Year’s Eve; churches are over-parked with believers praying their way into the New Year.
Kumasi, a very vibrant and life-filled city known for its greenery (Garden City), culture and business minded people is no different. As many were in church in the Garden City for ‘Cross Over’ services ushering them into the New Year, so were others who were busy either at the night clubs or joints getting ready for the New Year.
Bantama High Street is a well-known busy street in Kumasi and it is the main venue for almost all fun-packed activities in the Garden City. It has been the home of most street carnivals and concerts.
As it has been every year, the street which has served as the partying home for Asante Kotoko’s victories and other celebrations was 'chaotic' on Thursday night with hundreds of young party people who wanted to enter the New Year partying.
From one end of the street to the other, drivers were caught in a difficult traffic mess as the happy and dancing youths took over every available inch of space.
