The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwabena Agyepong has begun what he terms ‘consultative meetings’ with other political parties on the need for a new voters register as the 2016 general election approaches.
In a meeting held at the national Headquarters of the People's National Convention Party (PNC), he called on the party to support the call for a new register as it was the only way to restore confidence in the country’s electoral system.
The NPP Secretart said "A fresh registration will go a long way to rebuild public confidence in the electoral process", emphasizing that "this is essential for the successful conduct of a peaceful, free and fair election in 2016".
