The Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem has defended her decision to ask the NHIS Scheme Manager in the area to step aside for a new person.Thomas Baidoo claims the MCE, Veronica Nelson-Eshun, locked him out of his office because he failed to respond to her invitations to meetings. The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in a letter to the MCE, demanded explanations and directed the reinstatement of Mr. Baidoo. But Mrs. Nelson Eshun insists her actions are justified because the Scheme Manager had continuously undermined her authority.“He told the people that I am not the one who put him there and that it was the NPP who put him there so he cannot respond to my call.“I am working with so many heads of department and we are all coping. Almost all of the heads of department come to help me with the exception of him,” Mrs Eshun said. She said she had invited Mr Baidoo over for a meeting “to discuss and know where the problem lies.”“I gave him a letter that he should come to the office because he is not cooperating with me at the place and (members of) the community are bringing reports every now and then; they are blaming the government,” she lamented.“And I asked the PR to take inventory of the room and hand over the place to the new officer to take over because he (Mr Baidoo)…is not prepared to sit with me to find solutions to the community’s problems.”Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
