Some supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu North Constituency of the Volta Region have accused the constituency chairman, Moses Azaglo of padding the party’s voters' register.

They allege that the chairman is doing this in areas deemed to be strongholds of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) as part clandestine moves to orchestrate the defeat of other aspirants in the upcoming primaries to be held November 7.

Some of the disgruntled party officials who spoke to Joy News’ Ivy Setordzi, said even though they were told that each branch will receive one biometric register, most of the booklets have been sent to the MP’s stronghold.

The angry supporters say the Chairman is creating artificial shortage of booklets for registration in some parts of the constituency where the sitting MP is unpopular. This, they say, is designed to give him undue advantage.

But the constituency chairman has refuted the allegations.

In an interview with Ivy, Mr Azaglo said, “the allegations are not true. These people are all members of the party so how can I disenfranchise some people. I don’t even know those who are standing against the MP so it is frivolous for anyone to accuse me of favouring him”.

He said to ensure that people do not take advantage of the system he has serialised all the booklets.

He said no branch of the party received an extra booklet as was being alleged.
