Turkish side Giresunspor have released striker Abdul Basit Adam barely two weeks after signing him.
The young Ghana international had signed a two-year deal with the side who play in the second tier of the Turkish football league system in July after his exit from South African topflight club Free State Stars.
A member of the Ghana Olympic team, Basit has - in a surprise twist of events - had his recently signed contract terminated despite scoring a couple of goals for the side in pre-season.
Checks reveal that Giresunspor terminated Basit’s contract at the beginning of August with the club’s vice-president Nahid Yamak stating that the forward was “not fitting in with their play.”
The 20-year old returned to South Africa in search for a new club and recently trained with relegated AmaZulu FC but the Durban-based club cannot offer him a contract having already filled their foreign quota for the 2015/16 National First Division League.
AmaZulu have filled their foreign quota with the return of Namibian playmaker Petrus Shitembi who excelled on loan at Ghanaian league leaders AshantiGold.
