Ashantigold captain Lawrence Lartey has hailed Bashiru Hayford as 'fantastic' for getting the best out of the squad this season.
The former Kotoko and Medeama boss is on the verge of annexing the league for Miners, which will be their first top flight trophy in about 19 years.
It's Hayford's second season in charge of Ashantigold and with two games to end the season, Lartey has acknowledged the need to improve on last season's fourth-place finish.
"We have been at our best right from the start of the season till now and with two matches to end the season we need to improve upon the performances to finish hard because the competition from those behind us is still tough but we’re taking away the positives that has kept us on top of the league log till now and get better. We have only two games ahead of us," the Black Meteors captain told Adom FM.
"There's a good feeling in the squad. Coach Bash is an amazing and fantastic coach. Very competitive. He talks to us a lot and shows us where we have to improve. He's on top of it all to make us better."
“If you look at our team, you can see we have a lot of young players but he has been able to blend us all for us to get where we have gotten to, it tells you he is a fantastic coach,” he added.
"Our squad has the perfect mix, we have experience and fresh legs," he added. "We need both if we want to be champions, and the players who are not involved give everything when they get their opportunity. That's the mentality we need.
Lartey, who led second-tier Nania FC to win their first ever FA Cup trophy in 2011, is eager to improve his personal form.
"I'm always trying to get better. I'm at the one of the best clubs in Ghana and that helps a lot to keep giving my best for the fans.”
