A 13-year-old pupil of the Presbyterian Primary School at Akumsa-Domase in Brong Ahafo Region has killed himself by hanging.
James Kwao was found dead by hanging on a tree on Monday, August 31.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu, Nkoranza Municipal Police Commander who confirmed the news to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkoranza said one Mr Peter Dwamena, a farmer from Akumsa-Domase reported the incident to the Police that he spotted the corpse of the boy while going to his farm.
DSP Owusu said some Police personnel were dispatched to the spot and found the deceased hanging on a tree with the support of a nylon rope and his tongue protruded.
He said Madam Amma Kwaa, 45-year-old mother of the deceased told the Police that in the morning of that day she prepared meals for the family and Kwao took his share.
After eating the meal Madam Kwaa and Mr Kwaku Addo, 52 the deceased’s father decided to go to farm but Kwao was said to have told them to take the lead because he would follow later, DSP Owusu added.
Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the Nkoranza Saint Teresa’s Catholic Hospital pending autopsy and investigations by the Police.
