The National Health Insurance Authority says it cannot confirm media reports that former Chief Executive Officer Ras Boateng will soon be charged for allegedly willfully causing financial loss of four million Ghana cedis to the state.
According to Chief Executive Officer Sylvester Mensah, an internal audit he has commissioned into operations of the Scheme is still ongoing and therefore he cannot make any conclusive statements about whether Mr. Boateng is to be prosecuted or not.
News sources within the NHIA say Mr Ras Boateng would soon be dragged before court to account for monies expended under his watch.
The report is said to have about 21 findings under the theme SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS which says that the said amount was cashed at ECOBANK on December 12, 2008 in the heat of the general elections.
However answering a question from Asempa News' Jerry Tsatro Mordy on whether the alleged report is true Mr. Sylvester Mensah, who was speaking at news conference Wednesday, could not confirm this report. He rather declined to delve into the issue.
According to him, the findings are ongoing and a lot more would have to be done to establish facts before any action could be taken against the former CEO.
Meanwhile checks done by Asempa News revealed that Mr. Ras Boateng has never been informed of any auditing being done into his administration.
A source close to Mr. Ras Boateng told Asempa News that although the former CEO has been in the country ever since he left office, no one has informed him of findings into his administration.
He also denies knowledge of any missing amount for which he is said not to have accounted for.
In a related development, the NHIA has discounted a series of publications in the "Daily Searchlight" newspaper which alleges that the new CEO has spent thousands of Ghana Cedis on purchasing luxurious vehicles and allocated them to himself and some directors.
Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs and Strategic Planning Eric Ametor-Quarme described the publications as half-truths.
