Not long ago, his career was threatened but things have taken a spectacular turn for AshGold 'keeper Fatau Dauda.
Now he has admitted that he made the best decision to return to the local scene after failed attempts abroad. Having been with team for more than 10 years, Dauda felt the time was ripe to try his luck outside the country.
It didn't work, so he came back.
"I took a good decision by coming back to Ashanti Gold, it was a very good decision, one of the best I have made," the Black Stars goalkeeper told Joy Sports.
"I believe that whatever happens in life, thanks must always be given to God; he knows best. My return to the local scene means God wanted me to come and win the league with Ashgold," Fatau went on.
His stints took him to Orlando Pirates and Chippa United but it's with the experienced Bashir Hayford that he's now won a title - a first in 19 years. "Since i joined AshGold in 2004, only Alhaji Sani and myself are the old guys in the club, the rest are new.
“So I believe God wanted me to come back and help the team win the league and I am very thankful to Allah for what he has done for me and the entire team."
Fatau Dauda supplanted veteran Richard Kingson as Ghana's number one a few years ago, but he's looking to regain that slot after losing it also to Spain-based Razak Brimah.
