The Komenda Secondary Technical School has been closed down following a destructive demonstration by students on Monday.
Authorities say the students have been asked to go home because they are refusing to listen to anybody, destroying valuable assets of the school.
The Public Relations Officer of the Komenda Municipal Council, Amanzeba, told Adom FM that the students have destroyed most of the school’s properties including a car with registration number GB 2111 A.
He said some equipment in the science laboratory have also been destroyed.
According to him, the Municipal Chief Executive, Veronica Asuman-Nelson, together with some members of the council went to the school Monday morning to assess the situation.
Upon consultation with teachers and other stakeholders of the school, it was decided that the students be sent home for investigations to begin.
Asked why they were demonstrating, some students said they were protesting against the kind of treatment meted out to them by their headmaster, Mr Boni.
They said among other things that they are being charged entertainment fees while no entertainment is organized for them.
Again, the students claim their dining hall is very small thereby making it impossible for all students to have places to sit while eating.
The municipal authority has consequently set up a five-member committee, which would commence work on Wednesday to investigate the matter.
