It was fun galore amid competition at the Wesley College of Education Park in Kumasi, venue for the 5th edition of Nhyira FM’s mini sports festival dubbed ‘Corporate Olympics’.
Sixteen public and private institutions met on a single platform last Saturday to vie for honours in football, table tennis and playing cards, among others.
Soccer, as usual, provided the highest excitement, with participating teams exhibiting group and individual brilliance match after match.
The multi sporting events was purposefully hinged on two ideas; thus to keep members of different corporative firms active and also to pave way for organizational firms to establish a transaction business partnership among themselves.
The success of the event was beyond description as hundreds of fans thronged at the playing field to catch glimpse of the much talked about multi sporting events.
Rox Energy Drink emerged ultimate winners, beating Red Cross 1-0 to lift the giant trophy at stake.
It was a pulsating game which looked like coasting into a penalty shoot-out until the dying embers of the match when the ‘Energy Boys’ broke the deadlock with a free-kick which zoomed straight into the net to the disappointment of ‘First Aid’ guys.
Rox received a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a Multi TV kit and assorted drinks, in addition while Red Cross also went home with Multi TV kit and some drinks.
Muftawu Yussif of Red Cross was adjudged the overall best player for which he received a Multi TV digibox and a trophy.
In the table tennis competition, Richie K Gas Oven proved superior by silencing all opposition to annex the prestigious prize of a Multi TV digibox.
Other competing teams included Zoomlion, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Prisons Service and Komfo Anokye Hospital.
The highest point of the tournament, perhaps, is the high level of sportsmanship exhibited by the participating teams and players who used the stage to keep fit, win trophies as well as establish and reactivate business partnership. Some could not help it but ask for more…
So the next time you hear of Nhyira FM Corporate Olympics, make sure you get your company on board the train, it’s an experience of a lifetime!
The event was sponsored by Aspee Pharmaceuticals, Passion Natural Health Home, College of Integrated Healthcare, Jackson Educational Complex and Tetewobika Herbal Centre.
