Some displaced residents said to be from Sodom and Gomorrah, have found a new home at the Achimota School and are busy creating a new slum over there, Adomonline.com can report.
The slum dwellers have started cutting down trees and hedges close to the school's football pitch to make way for their make-shift structures.
A source in the school told this reporter that a minister, whose name he refused to mention, had a hand in resettling the displaced residents on the school's premises.
“We have been asked by the Education Ministry not to comment on the matter in the media but the situation is worrying” he bemoaned.
He feared the situation may have security implication on the school's population.
The source said though leadership of Achimota School has taken court action in the past to stop people from encroaching on their lands “the Sodom and Gomorrah issue is beyond us."
Slum dwellers living at Old Fadama popularly called Sodom and Gomorrah were evicted in July this year, a month after a twin flood and fire disaster claimed over 100 lives.
They were accused of choking the Odaw drain which contributed to the floods.
The AMA had initially planned to relocate the displaced residents to Pokuase but that did not work out as planned.
A number of the residents returned to the North where they came from but some are still in Accra looking for places to resettle.
The Achimota School appears to their new home, the source indicated.
He appealed to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Old Students Association and all well-meaning Ghanaians to assist the school to evict the squatters and stop any further encroachment.
