The Adansi-South District Assembly, has confirmed Mr. Benjamin Anhwere as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
Twenty-eight members of the assembly voted to approve of his nomination with only three of them kicking against it.
Mr. Kofi Opoku-Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister; Mr. Ernest Yakah, Member of Parliament for New-Edubiase; and NDC Ashanti Chairman, Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, were among the crowd that witnessed the voting, supervised by the Electoral Commission.
The Regional Minister asked the assembly to support Mr. Anhwere to enable him to champion the development of the area.
He advised the new DCE to live above reproach and unite the people for development.
Mr. Yakah pledged to work closely with the Mr. Anhwere to move the district "forward in the right direction."
The DCE, who until his nomination was the Presiding Member, thanked the assembly and vowed to live up to expectation.
Mr Anhwere was sworn into office by Mr. Opoku-Manu, an official of the Regional Coordinating Council.
The district has been without a substantive DCE for more than a year as the President's first nominee, Mr. Opoku Ampofo Manu, twice failed to get the mandatory two-thirds majority approval of the assembly.
