A little over 500 children from 13 schools in the Bosomtwe District took part in a parade at Kuntanase to commemorate the nation's 53rd Independence Day anniversary celebration.
After an impressive march past by the schools, Joy Standard School was adjudged the overall winner and as a prize, took home a set of jersey donated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah.
Addressing the parade, Mr. Edward Nti-Berko, the District Chief Executive, commended the children and teachers for their contribution and commitment demonstrated and urged them to continue to work hard to enhance the development of the country.
He said the Assembly would do everything possible to support the development of education in the district and urged the students to be disciplined.
The DCE said a new teacher's quarters was being constructed at Anyinatiase to help curb the accommodation problems facing teachers posted to the community.
