There has been continuous outpouring of grief, sorrow and sadness in the camp of Kessben FC in Kumasi following the reported sudden death of one of their key defenders, Bartholomew Yeboah.
The 19-year old, described by his colleagues as kind, affable, hard working and disciplined, died at dawn on Monday after he had collapsed during a Glo-Premier League match between Kessben FC and Liberty Professionals at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park in Accra last Sunday.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
A distraught-looking captain of the team, Richard Adjei, summed up the mood of the playing body with this statement - "We are completely shattered."
Adjei said the death of Yeboah was "shocking and a big blow" not only to the team, but to association football, considering his tender age and great talent.
"We saw him being carried off the pitch just after the start of the second half but we did not have the slightest inkling that it was the last time we were going to see him," he said.
The captain said it would be difficult for the Club to find a suitable replacement because he was a hard working and affable footballer.
Skipper Adjei conveyed his personal and team's heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, asking that God grants the late footballer a place in His Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Mr Kwame Owusu Donkor, a Management Member of the Club has said the family of the deceased had officially been informed of the tragic death.
His funeral is being planned and details of the arrangements would be announced as soon as they are through, he added.
