A state-of-the-art hotel, Grand View Hotel, situated in the Central Business District of Accra has been officially opened.
The seven-floor edifice has 60 rooms, restaurant, conference room, salon, gym and pub among other facilities.
At a short ceremony to open the hotel on Sunday, George Nana Kankam, a tourism officer at the Ministry of Tourism, debunked the perception that hotels are sinful places where people go to engage in immoral activities.
He called for more public-private sector partnership to improve the hotel/tourism industry in the country.
He commended management of the hotel for siting it at a place perceived to be dominated by low income earners, which he saw as a social responsibility to uplift the image of the area – Cantamanto inside CBD.
Mr Kankam charged the staff to be responsible in their duties and avoid behaviours that would undermine the progress of the hotel.
