Bashir Hayford has expressed concern about the seeming apathy of Ghanaian coaches to coaching in the nation's top clubs.
Hayford made these comments in relation to the imminent appointment of Japanese-American Kenichi Yatsuhashi as coach of Hearts of Oak.
The former Kotoko boss attributed the poor marketing and strategies adopted by the clubs as the prime reason for Ghanaian coaches not going for the jobs in the country, even when there are vacancies
"The packaging of the teams is a very big concern. African teams prefers foreign coaches with travelling experience and connections. Teams in Ghana do not advertise when there is vacant position, so interested good coaches don't apply," he added.
In the interview, on Asempa FM's Ultimate Sports Show, Hayford further debunked rumours concerning the incompetence of Ghanaian coaches.
"There are trained and well experienced coaches with license A in Ghana but they are not given the opportunity. The work is about confidence."
Bashir has recently led AshantiGold to win the First Capital Plus Premier League.
