Captain of the Ghana's home-based Black Stars team, Abeiku Ainooson, is confident of his side's chances ahead of their return leg qualifier against Ivory Coast in Abidjan on Friday.
Ghana holds a slim 2-1 lead over the Ivoirians and a positive result could see Ghana qualify for the impending CHAN in Rwanda for the fourth consecutive time.
Ainooson expressed confidence in the team and the coaching staff, with the team having landed in at the Ivorian capital.
“They came here and played a defensive formation but they got one goal out of it,” he said. "Physically they are very strong but for us we rely on tactics and techniques to beat them in the first leg.”
“Our coaches have taught us a lot so we are going to capitalize on it come Friday. I think it is going to be a difficult but we can pull a surprise over there. Our aim is to qualify Ghana to Rwanda next year.”
Ainooson remains one of the surviving members of the side that finished second to Libya in the 2013 edition held in South Africa.
