Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has taken the Zlatibor City Council to court over his demolished mansion in his home country of Serbia.
The Black Stars coach filed the report on Friday after his lawyers completed the investigations into the circumstances surrounding the demolition of the mansion estimated to cost US$1.5m.
“We have taken the legal step and my lawyers have filed all the court papers to take action against the city council,” Rajevac told Ghanasoccernet.com on Friday.
“We have provided all the necessary documents to show that we had approval before putting up the house.
“Also when they were destroying all these documents was given them by my wife but they went ahead to do it. Now my lawyers are dealing with it, I am concentrating on my team and my players to ensure that we do something historic at the World Cup.”
Only the rear of the two-house mansion remained which is also rented by tourists who visit the area during the high winter time as the mountainous area is famed worldwide for its skiing resources.
The Serbian will lead Ghana to face his native country at the World Cup in South Africa in June and the action to destroy his expensive mansion in the tourist town of Zlatibor is being viewed as an attempt to cow him.
The timing of the decision is suspicious as the house has been standing for the past six years.
The town council decided to demolish the house only two months before he leads Ghana to face Serbia.
Since guiding the Black Stars to reach the final of African Cup of Nations in January with a depleted, the Serbian coach has been receiving threatening phone calls asking him to quit as the coach of Ghana.
This has sparked the suspicion the demolition of his house is orchestrated from the top because of their impending clash at the global tournament in South Africa.
But Zlatibor authorities insist Rajevac doesn't have the necessary papers to build the house.
The demolition men pounced as Rajevac was away from his home country trawling the various leagues across the world to decide which players to invite for the World Cup.
The Serbian coach was in Egypt when the incident occurred and his desperate phone calls to stop the demolition were also ignored which has led the softly-spoken coach being distraught.
Ghana will play Serbia, Australia and Germany in the group phase of the World Cup in South Africa in June.
The demolition men believed to be from the Zlatibor Town Council carried out the demolition of the property even though the Ghana boss says he has all the papers granting him the permission to build the property.
