Ashantigold have vowed to lift the Glo premier league trophy for the first time in fourteen years.
The Obuasi based club lead the league table with 46 points, three points more than the defending champion Accra Hearts of Oak.
Cudjoe Fianoo, Chief Executive Officer of the club told Citi News the club will have itself to blame if it fails to lift the trophy.
He however admitted it will be a difficult challenge, especially when you have “Accra Hearts of Oak breathing down your neck,” he said.
With four matches left to draw the curtain down on the 2009/10 premier league, Mr Fianoo is not the least perturbed with the quality of opposition left to play.
Ashgold still have a hurdle in Kumasi Asante Kotoko to scale, but Mr Fianoo believes no team will stand in their way.
He was full of praise for coach, David Duncan who has been pivotal in the team’s renaissance and expressed the hope the management team will retain his services despite several offers from South Africa.
The race for the title is still open with Ashgold, Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars, Wa All Stars and Hearts of Lions all staking a claim for the title.
