The Confederation of African Football (CAF), have been urged to motivate and support coaches in Africa to enable them effectively perform their duties and interpret the rules and regulations of the game.
Two CAF Instructors, Anthony Kwabena Edusei and Francis Oti-Akenten said management and boards of the various Clubs as well as the National Football Associations (FA's) should ensure that local coaches enjoyed the same incentives and resources as their foreign counterparts.
Coaches on the continent, they noted were competent and could perform even better than their expatriate colleagues if they were encouraged and supported.
The two CAF Instructors were speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi after a day's refresher course for coaches in the Ashanti Region at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Tuesday.
About 50 coaches and their assistants drawn from Premier, First, Second, Third and Colts divisions participated in the refresher course.
The course was structured to build the referees capacity in the physical preparation of their players before and after matches.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) sponsored the course which was on the theme "Physical preparation of a footballer".
Topics treated included aerobic training, capacity and power, maximum aerobic power and red zone.
Coach Edusei said physical training of players was important to building their stamina and it is for this reason that coaches should always work on the fitness of their players.
Coach Oti-Akenten said similar courses would be held throughout the country to assist coaches and players to lift up the country's football prowess.
