A 25-year-old woman in Bawku was in the early hours of Saturday shot dead in her room.
The woman, identified as only Alila, was said to have been sleeping during curfew hours when some unknown assailants lurking behind her room shot her several times through a back window.
The incident, which occurred around 1:00am, is said to have sent shock waves through the town.
Police in Bawku have been in a security meeting to evaluate the security situation in the town after the nightlong sporadic shooting, Joy News’ Upper East Regional correspondent, Joseph Osei, reported.
In a related development, police in the town have arrested one Muniru Issah, who is suspected to have murdered a neighbour, Tala Mohammed, some few days ago.
Police officials say Muniru has been on the police wanted list for some time now. He was picked earlier in the week upon a tipoff.
According to reports, the police found in his possession one AK47 rifle and a number of bullets buried in her kitchen.
