The off-season in every league is characterized with a flurry of transfers. Swap deals, loan deals, marquee signings are often the terms used during the period.
In Ghana, these terms are a bit alien to us as year in year out we are greeted with a mass exodus of our local stars.
Prior to the end of last season, top scorer at that time Nathaniel Asamoah departed the shores of the country for Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca forfeiting his goal king crown.
He was joined by Ashantigold forward Yakubu Mohammed at the Moroccan side.
Now in our pre-season stage where teams preparing adequately to reach peak fitness, we can report of more outward transfers.
Ashanti-Gold center back Lawrence Lartey has joined South African top flight side Ajax Cape Town and according to reports has inked a two year deal.

The local Black Stars and Meteors center back is not the only player to leave the Obuasi side as speedy winger Bernard Morrison has joined Congolese side AS Vita while Ivorian Didier Kore sealed a deal with Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.
This makes it four members of the title winning Ashantigold side who started last season under Bashir Hayford’s orders.
2013/2014 goal king Seidu Bancey joined Lebanese side Al-NAbi Sheet club soon after claiming the goal king crown and his successor Kofi Owusu is edging close to following his footseps.
Owusu is on the verge of joining African Champions TP Mazembe to become the sixth Ghanaian at the Congolese side despite expressing interest to join champions Ashantigold.
Ghana youth international Kennedy Ashia (below, pictured) who was a transfer target for both Hearts and Kotoko has completed his move to Sudanese side Al Hilal. The offensive midfielder joined on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with Liberty Professionals.

Ashia will be joined by Kotoko center back Abeiku Ainooson (below, pictured) who completed a one year loan deal to the Champions League semi-finalists.

The duo are expected to be joined by Inter-Allies defender Baba Mensah who will arrive in Omdurman in the coming days to sign for the Sudanese giants.
Mensah was adjudged the best defender of the just ended Premier League season.
These five players join the likes of Mahatma Otoo, Winful Cobbinah, Augustine Okrah, Seidu Bancey who have left for greener pastures in the last two years.
The frightening thing is that all these departures have happened while the local transfer window has not even opened. You can be sure that before the window ends, a lot more of the best local players would not be straddling the fields next season.
