The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent a special invitation to the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor to observe its primaries.
She was sighted Saturday morning frantically stepping in and out of offices at the NDC’s headquarters in Accra in search of accreditation to facilitate her party’s smooth monitoring of the exercise.
Polls have opened in 269 constituencies where voters are trickling to the over 8,000 polling centres across the country elect parliamentary and presidential candidates for the 2016 general elections.
About 2.1 million card-bearing members of the NDC are expected to vote in today’s primaries.

It appears the Ghana Freedom Party is the only political party invited by the governing party to take part in its expanded electorate voting exercise.
Madam Akua Donkor told Joy News’ Elton Brobbey she was specifically invited by the NDC. There has been a cordial relationship between the NDC and the Ghana Freedom Party, she further noted.
She has been spotted on a number of events held by the NDC in the past years. Madam Donkor explained that the two parties are the same, which compels her to exhibit the tender care and love of a mother to both in any events.
She would however not hide her interest in canvassing massive votes for President John Mahama who is expected to be endorsed by the party today as its 2016 flagbearer.
