Ghana football authorities say they will hand an invitation to Portsmouth youngster Lennard Sowah to play for the country of his parents after his exploits in the English top flight.
This is to ensure that he is capped before his country of birth Germany gives him a call-up to their national team after excelling in the English Premier League for Portsmouth.
It is not known whether Ghana senior national team coach Milovan Rajevac will hand an invitation to the left back youngster but the reigning World Cup U20 champions want him.
Chairman of the Black Satellites management committee Jordan Anagbla says as he plays in the top flight at this age and has now gained regular place then he is being considered.
The Ghana football authorities say they are keen on talking to him about playing for Ghana’s national Under-20 football team.
“Our doors are open to all those within the age category and are playing regularly at the highest level. What is important is that these youngster are willing to play for Ghana and that will earn them a place,” Anagbla told Ghanasoccernet.com
“We are the defending world youth champions and we need a large pool of players to pick the best for the country. If Sowah is ready, then our doors are open to him.”
Sowah, 17, was born in Hamburg, Germany and has both Ghanaian and German citizenship.
He has made two league appearances for the already relegated English Premier League side as left-back.
