The former Chief Executive of the Ghana@50 Secretariat, Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby, and former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani have been charged for wilfully causing financial loss to the state.
The charge follows investigations into their alleged handling of expenses for the celebration of Ghana's 50th milestone.
The two men today faced a marathon interrogation by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Dr Brobby and Mr Mpiani, according to reports, were invited by the CID Headquarters at 10:00am Wednesday morning, and released a few minutes to 4:00pm.
Looking fresh and strong, the two former government officials who served under the NPP administration attended the invitation with their lawyers.
Even though Messrs Mpiani and Wereko-Brobbey would not talk to Asempa News, the Director of Public Affairs at the CID, Chief Inspector Joseph Benefo Darkwa, confirmed to Asempa News that the two gentlemen were there to assist in ongoing investigations into activities of the Ghana@50 Secretariat.
Asked on what the CID is interrogating them for, Chief Inspector Darkwa said the police would not comment on it now until their investigations are complete.
He added that the CID would invite the two as and when they need them.
