Two men have been confirmed dead in renewed clashes between two ethnic groups in the Bunkprugu Yonyon district of the Northern Region.
According to police spokesperson for the Northern Region, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, the clashes started early Wednesday between the Kombatiac and Bakuni ethnic groups culminating in the deaths of the two persons.
In an interview with Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh, the police spokesperson named the deceased as Kamkam Biono, 32 and Kusankui Budik, 90.
Six police men on duty at Kombatiac fled to a nearby town called Mamba after the combatants turned their anger on them, Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed.
The two ethnic groups early in 2010 were engaged in a turf war which led to the torching of over 27 houses.
No arrests have been made, at least not yet.
Ebenezer Tetteh said security has been beefed up and investigations have commenced.
The bodies of the two victims have been deposited at a local hospital.
