Three people suspected to be involved in three murder cases in Bawku were remanded in prison custody by a Bolgatanga Circuit Court on Monday.
Their pleas were not taken and are to reappear on May 7.
Muniru Musah, a 41-year-old tailor, was charged with five counts of conspiracy to murder, attempting to murder and murdering 60 year-old Talata Awuni at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, unlawful possession of firearm and possessing 27 rounds of ammunitions.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Raphael Azanyitiga told the court, presided by Mr William Boampong that at 0200 hours on April 10, while the deceased, was sleeping, some unidentified gunmen scaled the wall of her house and shot her but missed the husband, one Moro Salifu.
The woman was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for treatment and died on admission.
Sgt. Azanyitiga said the police recovered two ammunitions and four shells of AK 47 rifle from the suspect and that he had a tip off on April 16 that the suspect was among those who murdered Talata.
He noted that when the accused person's house was searched the police found one unloaded magazine and another one loaded with 37 rounds of ammunitions and an assault rifle concealed in a polythene bag and hidden in a stuffing chair.
The prosecutor explained that a further search by the police in an uncompleted building where the accused keeps his fuel wood revealed another AK 47 assault rifle buried in the ground.
Counsel for the suspect, Anthony Namoo, said his client is prepared to co-operate with the police until the case is over.
He appealed to the prosecution to seek advice from the Attorney General's office to speed up the process.
