Lawyers for the nine suspects being held by the state for the murder of the Dagbon King, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II have appealed against the continuous detention of their clients.
Lead Counsel, Nana Obiri Boahene has told Asempa News that under normal circumstances his clients should not have been detained for more than 14 days since they have not yet been charged with any crime.
However the Attorney General’s Department has filed a writ to oppose the bail application by defence counsel.
The defence had not been served a copy of the A-G’s opposition, necessitating an adjournment by the Human Rights Court to Tuesday, 27th April, 2010, for hearing.
All but one suspect attended the heavily guarded court. Mbadugu Idrissu is said to be unwell.
